Podcast ft. Anuja Kulkarni & Neha Mahajan
Context
All our decisions have 5 fundamental building blocks. Identity, Personality, Motivation, Purpose & Trade.
In the formative years of our life, meaning the first 12 – 18 years of our life, our parents are making most of the decisions for us.
These decisions are actively shaping our 5 building blocks of decision-making.
Apart from this direct influence, we are also subconsciously learning a lot from our parents indirectly. The way they behave around us, the way they talk around us, and the way they make decisions themselves – have a lot of influence on our behavior.
In modern lingo, these behavioral patterns which are influenced by our patterns are popularly called “Mommy issues & Daddy issues”. This can be traced back to Freud’s proposal of the Oedipus Complex.
But what are these “mommy-daddy issues” really? How much do they impact our day-to-day lives? Are we being lazy to address our own behavioral problems and find a scapegoat in our parents? How far-reaching is the impact of unresolved parental issues?
More importantly, when we look at society or nations at large, are these unresolved issues the cause of political movements like Feminism & Anti-patriarchy?
What are some decisions we need to make at the earliest so that we can resolve these issues and turn the page over a difficult time in our history?

About The Civilization Project
The Civilization Project (TCP) is an endeavor to decode how this world works through the lens of Decision Making. Our experience of reality is constructed by the decisions we make on 5 levels: Self, Team, Society, Nation-State & Civilization. It logically follows, that the health of our civilization, depends on the quality of decisions we make.
The Civilization Project will contribute to improving the health of our civilization, by focusing efforts on studying & promoting ways to make better decisions on all 5 levels, and hopefully resolve long-standing issues that are affecting all of us.
